Operating a Motorcycle in Montana
To legally operate a motorcycle in Montana all riders must:
- Meet the state’s minimum age requirement
- Obtain a Montana motorcycle license endorsement (you also need to obtain a learner’s permit)
- Register your motorcycle with the state of Montana
- Obtain insurance coverage that meets Montana state requirements
The minimum age requirement to operate a motorcycle in Montana is 16 years old or 15 years of age when an approved Montana Department of Justice and Superintendent of Public Instruction driver’s education course has been passed.
