Operating a Motorcycle in New Hampshire

In order to operate a motorcycle in the state of New Hampshire you must:

  • Meet the state’s minimum age requirement
  • Obtain an New Hampshire motorcycle license endorsement (you may also need to obtain a motorcycle learner’s permit)
  • Register your motorcycle with the state of New Hampshire
  • Obtain insurance coverage that meets New Hampshire state requirements

According to the New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of Motor Vehicles, in addition to meeting the requirements necessary to obtain a regular driver’s license, individuals must apply for a motorcycle license endorsement to operate a motorcycle.

Motorcyclists should sign up for a motorcycle safety course.
