Operating a Motorcycle in Oregon
In order to operate a motorcycle in the state of Oregon you must:
- Meet the state’s minimum age requirement
- Obtain an Oregon motorcycle license endorsement (you may also need to obtain a motorcycle instruction permit)
- Register your motorcycle with the state of Oregon
- Obtain insurance coverage that meets Oregon state requirements

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation Driver and Motor Vehicles Services, in addition to meeting the requirements necessary to obtain a regular driver’s license, individuals must apply for a motorcycle license endorsement to operate a motorcycle.

Motorcycle Education & Training in Oregon
Motorcyclists should sign up for a motorcycle safety course. In Oregon, it is mandatory to complete a motorcycle safety course to obtain an Oregon motorcycle license endorsement, regardless of age.
