Operating a Motorcycle in Vermont

In order to operate a motorcycle in the state of Vermont you must:

  • Meet the state’s minimum age requirement
  • Obtain an Vermont motorcycle license endorsement (you may also need to obtain a motorcycle learner permit)
  • Register your motorcycle with the state of Vermont
  • Obtain insurance coverage that meets Vermont state requirements

Motorcycle Education & Training in Vermont

Motorcyclists should sign up for a motorcycle safety course. In Vermont, it is not mandatory to complete a motorcycle safety course to obtain a Vermont motorcycle license endorsement, unless the applicant is under the age of 18.
